This January recruitment period proves to be a period of feverish rumour and possible major moves. Numerous high-profile players are being linked with moves out of their current clubs. We examine a selection of the key figures who might be on the move this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Despite Ghana's inability to reach the AFCON, which has kept the forward available, reports suggest a significant move is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker has a deal featuring a substantial buy-out clause applicable for a brief window at the start of the month. Latest developments indicate Manchester City have emerged as his signature. Other suitors such as Chelsea and Tottenham reportedly have moved on to other targets, leaving clubs like Manchester United or Liverpool to attempt a last-minute move.

Marc Guéhi

The English centre-back has excel for Palace despite a previous transfer to Liverpool falling through. With his deal set to run out in the summer, January is the club's last opportunity to secure a transfer fee for their captain. A host of top clubs, including City and several European giants like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, are believed to be interested. Yet, a winter exit is considered unlikely, particularly given the coach's dependence on the player.

B. Johnson

This Welsh winger has had first-team minutes limited at Spurs this campaign. Although being the club's top scorer the previous campaign, he has begun only a small number of Premier League matches. Reports suggest the London outfit would be open to a transfer for the correct price, believed to be in the region of £40 million. Bournemouth are currently leading the chase, with Aston Villa, Brentford, and Crystal Palace also credited with an inquiry.

Spurs value the Welsh international at around forty million pounds.

Rúben Neves

This Portugal midfielder might be set for a comeback to the English top flight after a spell in the Saudi Pro League. Still only 28, and with his contract expiring in the summer of 2026, he represents a potential bargain. Teams such as Liverpool and Manchester United are connected to the player. Additionally, there have been rumours from Spanish media that he would be willing to take a pay cut for a switch to Real Madrid.

Marc-André ter Stegen

The veteran Germany shot-stopper finds himself as the third option at Barcelona following new coach Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and had an operation, a January departure looks increasingly probable. Villa were initially mentioned as a potential suitor, but that move currently seems unlikely. Instead, interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey are reportedly expressing interest in the 33-year-old.

I. Toney

This proven England striker has kept scoring frequently in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might boost his fading hopes of being in the national World Cup. However, arranging a transfer poses significant hurdles. Al-Ahli do not wish to part with him, and his alleged huge weekly wages render any move complicated. Everton, Tottenham, and Manchester United are all mentioned as interested parties.

Conor Gallagher

The manager has stated the temporary transfer will not be made permanent. K. Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkish attacker is in excellent form for the Italian giants this term. As his current deal running down, many Premier League clubs – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are monitoring the developments. Juventus are eager to secure the youngster to a lengthy contract but face a battle to retain one of the continent's brightest prospects.

K. Smit

This highly-touted Netherlands midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. After impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar side. This teenager is heavily tipped to complete a big-money transfer in January. Newcastle United are believed to be leading the chase, but are facing strong rivalry from Real Madrid for a signing valued at around £22 million.
